STATESVILLE, N.C. (May 17, 2024) – Southern Distilling Company’s four entries in the 2024 consumer-based SIP Awards netted four more gold medals for the Statesville, N.C.-based distillery with its Southern Star and Hunting Creek brands. Hunting Creek Straight Rye Whiskey, the first expression in the distillery’s Heritage Series, took Double Gold honors alongside Southern Star Double Rye.

Despite having two gold medals from previous competitions, this marks the first double-gold minting for Hunting Creek. Originally a local 19th-century whiskey that succumbed to the pre-prohibition temperance movement, Southern Distilling proudly resurrected the Hunting Creek brand in 2023.

Southern Star Paragon Cask Strength and Southern Star Standard High Rye Bourbon both received gold medals and a pair of Innovation Awards.

“To have consumers and industry experts alike enjoying our Southern Star whiskeys means a lot to us” said Pete Barger, CEO and co-founder of Southern Distilling. “We’re so proud of the locally-sourced Southern Star products we’re producing and the group of talented employees we have at Southern Distilling that help make it all happen.”

This most recent string of awards comes on the heels of last month’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition, which also brought home four medals for Southern Distilling.
